Berlin: Awarding the students of the Supplementary School in the Serbian language
At the initiative of Ambassador Snežana Janković, this competition was announced for the second year in a row at the Embassy in Berlin. 56 primary school students from all parts of Germany participated in the competition, of which 12 were awarded. The best works were awarded with recognition certificates and books by our famous writers provided by the Embassy.
The aim of the competition was to encourage our children who were born, grow up and study in Germany to think about why it is important to cultivate the knowledge of the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet.
Ambassador Janković pointed out that the joint task of the Embassy and the Supplementary School in the Serbian language was to nurture the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet among our children in the diaspora, thus preserving their identity and awareness of their roots. She thanked the parents, who, in addition to their numerous obligations, contributed significantly to the work of supplementary schools in Germany and set aside time so that their children regularly attend Serbian language classes.
The ceremony at the Embassy was attended by award-winning students from Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main and Munich, their parents and teachers, as well as the coordinator of the Supplementary School for the Serbian Language in Germany, Biljana Bukinac.
