Berlin: Ambassador Janković's interview for the cultural magazine of Lusatian Serbs
Ambassador Janković pointed out that the Serbs were culturally very close and historically connected with the Lusatian Serbs, but that most of our citizens did not yet have the opportunity to get to know the culture of the Lusatian Serbs in more detail. Ambassador Janković believes that the interest in getting to know each other better existed and that it could serve as a good foundation for establishing closer relations.
Bearing in mind the strong cultural ties that reflected, among other things, in the language, customs and costumes, the Ambassador Janković stressed that the connection between our two peoples would be best established through the cooperation of cultural and educational institutions.
The Ambassador also explained that she saw room for cooperation in other areas such as education, science and economy.
The Ambassador Snežana Janković reflected on her visit to Lower Lusatia in May this year, evaluating it as extremely successful. She emphasized that it was only the first step towards establishing cooperation with Lusatian Serbs and expressed hope that she would have the opportunity to visit other regions where Lusatian Serbs lived and that those contacts would initiate a mutually beneficial and spiritually enriching cooperation between two close peoples, Serbs and Lusatian Serbs.
