Beijing: Ambassador Stefanović's participation in the "Let`s Synchronise the Good Life of the World" Forum of Ambassadors

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the People's Republic of China, Maja Stefanović, participated in the second Forum of Ambassadors entitled "Let`s Synchronise the Good Life of the World", which was organised by the largest Chinese and one of the world's leading e-commerce platforms - "Jingdong", i.e. JD.com in Beijing.

Ambassador Stefanović stressed the importance of economic cooperation as one of the key segments of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China. She particularly emphasised the increasing importance of e-commerce for the improvement of trade cooperation, especially at the moment of facing interruptions in supply chains at the global level and the reduction of the intensity of social exchange due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She informed that the National Pavilion of Serbia, opened on the JD.com platform in June of this year, recorded excellent results in just three months, and in terms of sales, it ranked second, right behind the Georgia pavilion. The Pavilion's selection range includes around 100 food products from Serbia, from fruit juices and wine to confectionery products and coffee. In the following period, Serbia is planning to widen its offer.

The forum was led by the deputy president of JD.com, and representatives of the city of Beijing, as well as the ambassadors of Cyprus, Georgia, Indonesia, Moldova and Sri Lanka and representatives of Switzerland and Pakistan in Beijing also participated, sharing their experience of cooperation with this platform.

"Let`s Synchronise the Good Life of the World" Forum of Ambassadors was organised on the eve of the fifth International Import Fair in Shanghai, in order to summarise the results of the previous period. According to a JD.com report, the total value of branded goods in the past three years has reached 500 billion yuan, surpassing the 400 billion target set during the 2019 Second Shanghai International Import Fair. The opening of national pavilions on the JD.com platform is part of the strategy to increase imports, and so far, about 70 national pavilions have been opened.

At the end of the Forum, the ambassadors were awarded with a special plaque for their contribution to the promotion of bilateral cooperation in e-commerce through the JD.com platform.
