The Silk Road was promoted by the President Xi Jinping five years ago. That initiative, which included the interconnection of road, marine and air transport and the Internet, was of great significance to the aviation industry that experienced growth despite the Covid-19 pandemics.

The Air Silk Road Forum brought together the biggest authorities in the field of air transport.

In her presentation at the Forum, the Ambassador Stefanović pointed out that the establishment of direct airlines, that is, cooperation in the field of transport and logistics was an important segment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China as well as for the Belt and Road Initiative.

In addition to the direct airline between Belgrade and Beijing, which was established by "Hainan Airlines", Ambassador Stefanović announced a direct airline between Serbia and China, soon to be established by the national airline Air Serbia.

Ambassador Stefanović emphasized that Serbia had the potential to become a leading regional transportation centre for air traffic and that the need to build resilient and stable supply chains was emerging as a priority, especially since the world was facing the Covid-19 pandemics.
