Baghdad: Embassy of the Republic of Serbia marks Statehood Day
Despite the current political and security situation, about 300 guests from all segments of political, economic, and social life, as well as a large number of ambassadors from other countries and media representatives attended the reception.
In his speech, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Baghdad, Uroš Balov, referred to the historical significance of this holiday for the Republic of Serbia, but also pointed out the exceptionally good political relations between the two countries, which have been on the rise for almost 64 years. He also stressed the need to improve economic cooperation, renew existing defence agreements, and raise trade levels.
The envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Undersecretary of the MFA and the Head of the Directorate for Europe, Ambassador Tariq Al Shahir gave a speech to the guests, and thanked Serbia for its support in this time of political turbulence in the Republic of Iraq.
A large number of former Yugoslav students also attended the reception from Iraq, whose club works closely with the Embassy, as well as a significant number of our citizens engaged in the UN mission in Iraq.
