Acting Assistant Minister - Center for Analytics and Information, Ambassador Željko Jović

Born on January 9, 1974, in Belgrade, Željko Jović graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Belgrade, majoring in International Relations. He went on to complete both his Master's and Doctoral degrees at the same faculty, focusing on topics related to foreign policy and security.

He began his professional career as a volunteer at the Yugoslav Committee of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of FR Yugoslavia in 1999. From 2003 to 2013, he worked at the Security Information Agency (BIA).

From 2013 to 2014, he served as the Chief of the Department for Analytics and Support to Foreign Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2014 to 2019, he was the Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Government of Serbia, and from 2019 to 2024, he served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Bulgaria.

Since July 2024, he has been an ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.

Since 2010, he has been engaged as a lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leading courses such as "Contemporary Crisis Hotspots," "Activities of Foreign Intelligence Services," "Contemporary Security Challenges, Risks, and Security Threats," and "Energy and Environmental Security."

He is currently an Associate Professor at the Academy for National Security, where he teaches "Ecological and Energy Security," and a visiting lecturer in the Master's program in Ecological Policy at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, as well as at the Faculty of Security in Belgrade.

He has published works in the fields of ecological terrorism, security challenges, and energy security, as well as on international relations and security in the Balkans.

In December 2024, he was appointed as the Acting Assistant Minister for the Center for Analytics and Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He is married and the father of two children.

He speaks English and Bulgarian.
