Political relations
Bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are traditionally good and friendly. As part of its anti-colonial policy, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) supported the Congolese National Movement in its struggle for independence, which was achieved in 1960.
President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo met with President Aleksandar Vučić during his official visit to the Republic of Serbia from 25 to 27 October 2019.
President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo visited the Republic of Serbia again from 27 to 29 November 2025, during which he met with President Aleksandar Vučić.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić paid an official visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 17 to 18 May 2019.
On 31 August 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Security and Customary Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Jacquemain Shabani on the occasion of the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.
Economic relations
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, total merchandise trade with the Democratic Republic of the Congo amounted to EUR 69.3 million in 2025, of which Serbian exports accounted for EUR 19.7 million and imports for EUR 49.6 million.
