Đurić confers with Sørensen

25. Mar 2025.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić met today with the European Union’s Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Peter Sørensen.

During the meeting, Minister Đurić assessed that no progress has been made in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina for years, emphasizing that the fundamental prerequisite for its revival is the establishment of trust among all parties involved in the process.

Reaffirming Belgrade’s support for the Special Representative’s work, Đurić underscored that the formation of the Association of Serb Municipalities, along with the implementation of other commitments agreed upon in the Brussels Agreement, remains a key factor in normalizing relations.

According to Đurić, unilateral actions taken by Prime Minister Kurti’s administration in recent years have placed the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija in an extremely difficult position, further straining already fragile interethnic relations.

In light of these challenges, Belgrade remains committed to supporting Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija while advocating for the respect of their fundamental rights, some of which are enshrined in Pristina’s own legal framework.

Highlighting the broader political context of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Minister Đurić stressed the need for a stronger EU role in the coming period to facilitate the continuation of negotiations and the pursuit of compromise-based solutions.
