Stojanović and Petković meet with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
On this occasion, Stojanović reaffirmed Serbia’s principled support for the work of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and underscored the importance of preserving and strengthening the multilateral framework for human rights protection. A key focus of the meeting was the serious human rights violations affecting Serbs and other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and Metohija. The State Secretary emphasized that Kosovo and Metohija remains under the interim administration of the United Nations in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999) and that the human rights situation requires particular attention and engagement from relevant UN bodies.

It was concluded that ensuring the consistent application of international human rights standards across the entire territory of the province is essential, with a particular focus on security, freedom of movement, and the return of internally displaced persons. Serbia remains committed to continued cooperation with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and other relevant international institutions to improve the position of Serbs and other non-Albanian communities in the province.
