Kozarev Opens the Exhibition “Extraordinary Textiles of Mexico”
He emphasized that culture represents a powerful bridge between nations, while Mexican textile art bears witness to a rich tradition and creativity passed down through generations.
Kozarev welcomed the efforts of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum in implementing reforms aimed at improving the well-being of citizens, highlighting similarities with the vision of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, the results of which, he noted, are felt by citizens on a daily basis.
He also pointed to the importance of cooperation within regional initiatives, recalling that Foreign Minister Marko Đurić was last year the only European minister to attend the General Assembly of the Organization of American States.
Ahead of Expo 2027, he expressed hope that Mexico would confirm its participation in this important international event.
Kozarev thanked Mexico for its principled support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, based on its consistent respect for international law, and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to develop in a spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation.
The Ambassador of Mexico to Serbia, Carlos Félix Corona, stated that cultural ties constitute the foundation of relations between the two countries and that the exhibition reflects the richness of Mexican tradition through authentic textiles and traditional costumes from various regions of Mexico. Speaking about the friendly bilateral relations, he emphasized Mexico’s non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, describing it as an expression of Mexico’s firm support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.
On behalf of the host institution, the guests were also addressed by the President of the Managing Board of the Ethnographic Museum, Svetlana Ćaldović Šljaković, who stressed that culture represents the strongest bond among nations, transcending all barriers. The Ministry of Culture was represented by State Secretary Miomir Đorđević.
