27. Jan 2026.
The State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, held talks today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Serbia, Anke Konrad, as well as with the Deputy Head of the Western Balkans Division at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, Matthias Konrad.

The discussions covered topics within the framework of bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Federal Republic of Germany, Serbia’s European integration process, the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue, as well as current regional and global issues.

It was assessed that bilateral relations between the two countries are characterized by a high level of political dialogue and well-developed economic cooperation, with a strong expectation that this positive trend will continue in the period ahead. The German side reiterated its support for the European integration process of the Republic of Serbia, underscoring the importance of integrating the Western Balkans into the European Union with a view to achieving overall stability and prosperity in the region.

Jovanović used the opportunity to brief her interlocutors on current developments in Kosovo and Metohija, pointing to the challenges faced by the Serbian population, including ongoing forms of physical violence and institutional pressure. Particular attention was drawn to announcements regarding the so-called laws on foreigners and vehicles, which further complicate the position of the Serbian community and have negative implications for the exercise of fundamental rights, primarily with regard to employment and freedom of movement. In this context, the importance of engagement by the international community was emphasized in order to preserve stability and ensure conditions conducive to the continuation of the dialogue.
