08. Oct 2024.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić had talks today with Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland Jussi Halla-aho.

Noting that Serbia-Finland relations were good and characterized by a positive trend in political dialogue and cooperation, Minister Đurić said this year's 95th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries testified to the longevity of their relationship.

Đurić said that he was pleased with increasingly frequent meetings between top officials of the two countries and noted that he had recently had an opportunity to welcome Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen in Belgrade.

The Serbian Foreign Minister said that EU membership was a strategic commitment and a foreign policy priority for Serbia and that Serbia was an advocate for European values, seeking to contribute to peace, stability and prosperity of the continent.

When it comes to Kosovo and Metohija, Đurić underscored that Belgrade was consistently committed to the dialogue with Pristina, but also that at this moment it was necessary, above all, to ensure the safety of the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija and implement all commitments arising from the agreements reached so far, without further delay.

In this context, he welcomed the participation of Finnish troops in the KFOR mission and emphasized the necessity of international presence in the territory of the province.

Touching on economic relations, the Minister also reiterated Serbia's commitment to further boost economic cooperation with Finland and, especially, to increase the bilateral trade volume and continue to attract investments by Finnish companies.
