Political relations
Then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić met with former President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku in October 2019. This was also the most recent meeting held with representatives of Afghanistan.
The delegation of Afghanistan to the 141st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Belgrade from 13 to 17 October 2019, was headed by Mir Rahman Rahmani, Speaker of the House of the People, the lower house of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Economic relations
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, total merchandise trade with Afghanistan amounted to EUR 832,000 in 2025, of which Serbian exports accounted for EUR 729,000 and imports for EUR 103,000.
