Political relations
Political relations and dialogue between the Republic of Serbia and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan have the potential for improvement in various areas.
The delegation of Afghanistan at the 141st session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Belgrade, 13 – 17 October 2019, was led by R. Rahmani, Speaker of the House of the People, the lower house of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The last meeting on the side-lines of multilateral gatherings at the level of foreign ministers was between the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia V. Jeremić and the then Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs Z. Rasul, in May 2012, during a ministerial meeting of the Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement in Egypt.
Economic relations
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the total trade exchange with Afganistan in 2025 amounted to €832 thousands, of which €729 thousands referred to exports from the Republic of Serbia and €103 thousands to imports.
